Dear women of colour,
Why must we bring each other down?
Remind one another that we are poles apart from each
other, but are we really different from each other?
Your kinks. Her curls, are the reason why we began to
reunite with one another, rejoice with each other uplift one another.
But still you remind me that we can’t help one another? That we're different from each other?
Her edges. Her nape. Far from the thinning truth yet you
still expect her to be swinging the truth to you?
Her pattern. My texture; it isn't nothing but another way
for us to divide from each other. Create hate between one another. For our LOVE
to be blocked and silenced.
Your twists. Her braids; protection from the pollution
that we create. But it can't protect us from the excrement that expels from our
mouths when we come across something that doesn't meet our standard of fortification.
Your method. Her way; can they not please you with new
things that they wish try. Can't fight fire with fire yet you explode when she
uses heat. Who are we here to please…you?
On a real, how can you demand support on your journey for
self-love when you don’t know the real meaning LOVE.
Our voices must be heard, but positivity must be vocalised.
With each post, each video, each tweet we make, remember
that we weren't created for abhorrence.
Learn to choose your words wisely, you may surprise
society,
Change some perceptions, of your sista’s and fellow
queens.
We need to learn to LOVE, will you be the first to light
the way?
Let Our Voices Echo
